CIS is ...

* parental involvement activities that help parents take a stronger role in their children’s educations

* make referrals to social services providers to help meet student and family needs

* tutoring and mentoring

* give a child an encouraging word and a supportive group

* recreation and extracurricular activities that enrich students’ lives

* employment and internship programs for older students

 

CIS has been a part of Houston’s schools for 29 years and is well known among the city’s teachers and principals as a program that makes a difference.  One reason that we have a reputation for success is that we offer our students and their families services that meet real needs and provide real opportunities.
