Students learn to view their world through the eyes of the young mathematician. They raise questions about the world in which they live. They apply skills of measurement, geometry, comparison, probability, and estimation to answer their questions. They propose multiple solutions to real life problems. As in life, they search for more than one answer.
Advanced Academic Programs
The Advanced Placement-Middle Years Plan, Revere's most challenging academic offering, is a rigorous advanced course of study for highly motivated and academically talented students. The AP-MYP provides students with sound knowledge and skills through a content driven curriculum. Students pursue courses specifically designed to prepare them for high school Advanced Placement subjects and other high school academic requirements. They are given high school credit for successful completion of advanced grade level math, science, and foreign language. All sixth graders are given the opportunity to be successful in the AP-MYP courses. Seventh and eighth grade students are in AP-MYP classes. All students are challenged with problem solving, higher level questioning, and critical thinking skills.
Traditional Programs
Revere students are offered tradition seventh grade Math if they do not wish or do not qualify for the AAP classes. In the eighth grade every student not in Algebra or Geometry will be placed in a Pre-Algebra program. Our goal is to get our eighth graders ready for Algebra I in High School.
Any student that failed the Math portion of TAAS may also be placed in a special Math TAAS class to work on those specific skill areas. This would count as an elective.
We also offer a Math Tutorial or Math Study Skills class for those students who wish to have a Math class everyday. These classes review what the student is learning in their other Math classes as well as practice on TAAS Math objectives.
