KICKSTART Mission Statement

The overall mission of KICKSTART is to change and save children’s lives. Resiliency is enhanced through the values and philosophies taught through the Martial Arts.

  Burbank Middle School was chosen in 1992 to be one of the four schools to participate in a martial arts program.  KICKSTART was started as a way for students to stay out of gangs and to stay off drugs.  Burbank KICKSTART currently has an enrollment of 200 students.  We continue to offer students a way for them to be a part of a T.E.A.M.  Our students are offered martial arts at almost no cost.  

 Students who wish to participant in a special portion of the KICKSTART TEAM may join the Burbank Demonstration TEAM.  This team meets every week to practice together for special presentations.  This team has performed for many events on campus and for events off campus.  The students who participate in this team are required to maintain passing grades and must have excellent behavior.  These students are held to a higher standard than many others.
