Welch Welcomes Lauren Anderson

The renowned prima ballerina, Lauren Anderson, paid a visit to the Welch Middle School advanced dance class Wednesday, February 8, 2007.The dancers were proud to have this distinguished visitor in their presence. They demonstrated their dance technique in a ballet class taught by their instructor, Laura Sadler.

After class, Ms. Anderson visited with the students, answered questions, gave them encouragement, and showed them her “Ballerina toes!!!”  OUCH! The students shared refreshments with Ms. Anderson, took technique corrections, and posed for pictures for the “Village News”.  We are anxiously awaiting our upcoming Master Classes with Ms. Anderson over the next few months!

A special “Thank you” to John Ella Fowler for orchestrating the visit, Ms. Andrews for supporting it, the Houston Ballet for starting this outreach program, and especially to Lauren Anderson for letting the students know they can be ballerinas just like her with hard work and dedication! BRAVO!
