PARENT INVOLVEMENT POLICY
Welch Middle School developed this policy to describe how we involve parents to help student achievement. To ensure all Welch Middle School students success in their academic progress, it is the responsibility of the parents/guardians, school, and students to be actively involved in their education. This policy was developed with the assistance and approval of the parents of students who participated in the Title I program here at Welch.
Policy
Each year we invite parents to attend PAC/PTO meetings. At these meetings, we ask for volunteers, discuss Title I Laws, Title I program requirements, and the rights and benefits of Title I participants and their parents. Parents are surveyed to find out what types of programs that they would like to participate in and express any concerns that they have regarding parent involvement.
Program Involvement
At Parent involvement meetings, we give parents information about student assessments, student expectations, curriculum, tutorials, field trips, adult education opportunities, and extra-curricular activities. The purpose is to empower our parents with the tools they need to continue to help their children.
School-Parent Compact
Welch Middle School’s compact was developed from input from parents, teachers, and staff. Each group pledges their commitment to our school and students. Our compact is distributed as a written communication to parents.
Parent Training
Welch provides ESL classes, computer, Spanish classes, family learning nights, and special presentations with motivational speakers for our parents. The speakers focus on topics that parents and teachers have suggested.
Staffing
Welch Middle School has a part-time Title I Coordinator and Teacher Aide that work with teachers, parents, students and the community to impact our instructional program. They work towards strengthening the ties between our community and our school. Welch partners with the staff and church members of Riceville Baptist Church through The Gents and The Lady of Welch Programs.
