Our guests arrived at W.I. Stevenson Middle School the morning of Wednesday, March 27, 2002. They arrived in Houston from Kirklees with the following objectives:

To explore strategies used to ensure that students become independent, creative and lifelong learners.

To understand how schools have managed the process of striving for excellence and to see the impact of this on the schools' ethos and culture of learning.

The preceding pictures were taken at a brief meeting in the principal's office. Afterward they were free to tour the school and speak to teachers, staff and students.

We hope to maintain contact with our visitors and to establish ongoing ties between their schools and Stevenson Middle.

W.I. Stevenson Middle School is one of only two middle schools in the Houston Independent School District selected for the honor of hosting these visitors.
