Greek
Mythology
Ms. Seals' classes,
in cooperation with the English and History teachers, Mr. McCanless and Mr.
Coleman, are finishing a unit on Greek Mythology. After reviewing the basics
of Greek Mythology and the Gods of Olympus, students researched a selected god,
goddess, hero, or myth using the mythology websites http://ms.houstonisd.org/stevensonms/2002_2003_pages/greek_mythology_sites_for_ms.htm
posted in the Stevenson website by the Stevenson Webmaster, Ms. Fitzgerald.
They used their research results to create a presentation display.
Students are now completing the second phase of the project where they themselves are gods and goddesses. They must (1) select what they are the god or goddess of, (2) determine what powers they possess and how they will be used to help humans, (3) What magical or sacred item they have and what it does, and (4) create a story about themselves showing how they used their powers and how it affects humans. Students will make this presentation in full costume dressed as their God or Goddess. This unit will end with students viewing the mythological blockbuster movie "Clash of the Titans".
