Scavenger Hunts

Looking for ways to introduce your students to the Internet and the tools to do successful but safe teleresearch? Having your students complete an online scavenger hunt may be one of your best tactics. The following hunts range in difficulty. Some provide the answer links for each question but the student has to search one or more pages in the site for the answer (Level 1). Others provide a list of resources to use without specifying which one goes with which question(Level 2). And finally, some only state a question, the student is on their own (Level 3). At the end are sites that are collections of scavenger hunts.

Level 1

Martin Luther King Jr. Scavenger Hunt - Questions about the life and work of Martin Luther King, Jr.
12 Scavenger Hunt Voyages - a collection of scavenger hunts for elementary students
Museum Scavenger Hunt - explore the Louisiana Children's Museum - a nice beginner site, you never leave the site-just travel to different pages within the site.
Christmas Around the World - Internet-based Scavenger Hunt #1 - explore holiday customs from around the world.
Webhound's Scavenger Hunt -Social Studies questions on a variety of countries and topics
REVOLUTIONARY WAR INTERNET SCAVENGER HUNT - questions about the events and people of the Revolutionary War
A NEW NATION INTERNET SCAVENGER HUNT - questions about our government both past and present

Level 2

Astronaut Hunt - a crossword puzzle is completed by answering the questions (print the crossword puzzle and give a copy to each group before hand--it can not be completed online)
Texas Heritage - questions about Texas people and landmarks

Level 3

Math Scavenger Hunt - a scavenger hunt on various math topics and people. (Level 3)
