Members Present: Ellen Butler, Crystal Wilson, Joanna Foreman, David Williams, Patty Conway, Franz Hill, Jill Bailer(proxy for E Shephard), Anthony Hoyt, Daniel Sheppard, Jami Arnst, Ada Dolphus, Sheila Newell.

Old Business:

1.  Reading of 3/16/05 minutes by J. Foreman, amended to include attendance of S. Williams and approved 3/16/05.

New Business:

  1. No suggestions submitted for teacher retention; discussed forming another committee to build an esprit de corps among faculty.
  2. Professional development: new teachers need classroom management help.
    Principal letter for student and parent  expectations at beginning of year. Electronic messages for grades and attendance suggested.
  3. Discussed reforming grant writing committees.
  4. Two or three scheduled community walks for next year. We need to create an alternative for non-walkers.
  5. Postponed discussion of Saturday TAKS tutorials.

Wheel Committee Reports:

Courtesy Committee: Memory Book for Doris Davis, Concern for Ms. Rolle-Smith and made contribution. Baseball outing planned for May

 

 Plant Operations: Currently surveying for room conditions

 

Professional Development: no update

Security Committee: no update

Technology Committee: 501 lab is gone, only media literacy lab left in 501 and being refurbished, help desk is getting worse.

Open Forum:     Ms. De La Rosa came in and reported she had been working with officers to find students in the nearby apartments suspected of having drugs on campus.
