Jacquelyn Gentry.
Holland Middle School's recipient of this year's Houston Area Alliance of Black School Educators Award
Ms. Gentry is an 8th grade Language Arts teacher. Her hobbies include reading, cooking, gardening, and different forms of dance.
Ms. Gentry has taught at Holland for three years. In addition to teaching, She is also the cheerleading sponsor, 8th grade class co-sponsor, a member of the HMS Shared Decision Making Committee, and a student council advisor.
"My favorite thing about
teaching," Ms. Gentry explains, "Is hearing my students
say, 'I get it now!' I also like the notes that they leave on my
desk that express how much they
appreciate me taking my time to ensure their understanding of the
content"
She attended Sam Houston State and
University of Houston-Downtown, and is currently pursuing a
masters degree from University of Houston - Clear Lake.
