Dress Code 2008-2009
 

Boys

 Boys are expected to be clean, neat and appropriately dressed each day. Hairstyles and fashions which cause or may cause a distraction are unacceptable. Appropriate under garments are expected. In general, boys are to dress such that the body is covered from the neck to 2” above the knee with the exception of the arms.

Tops

  • 6th grade navy blue school shirt

  • 7th grade grey school shirt

  • 8th grade red school shirt

  • All shirts must be purchased at Hogg and have the school logo

  • Hogg spirit shirts are optional on Fridays only

  • Shirts must be TUCKED IN at ALL times

 Bottoms

  • All students must wear black uniform or dress pants with belt loops

  • Black shorts that are no more than two inched above the knee and have belt loops are also acceptable

  • NO SAGGING ALLOWED! All bottoms must fit neatly at the inseam and at the waistline.

  • Any garment worn under the school uniform must be solid white or a Hogg PE shirt

  • Appropriate footwear includes closed-toe shoes such as boots, casual or dress shoes, and tennis shoes.

  • Any hairstyle that is neat and clean. Normal hair color within the natural colors of black, brown, blond, and red.

  • Belts must be worn daily and must be visible. Belts must be black or brown with no decorations and a plain gold or silver buckle.

  • All jackets will be a solid color with no logos or designs and must be the color of the grade level uniform shirt.

Boys May Not Wear

  • Over-sized, baggy pants

  • Muscle shirts, sleeveless shirts, or undershirts worn as outer clothing.

  • Any item identified as gang related by school officials.

  • Neck-chains and medallions]

  • Warm-ups or sweat pants of any kind

  • Boys may NOT wear earrings

  • Cut-off, torn, or tattered jeans

  • Bicycle pants or spandex tops

  • Bandannas

  • Vests or overalls

  • Suggestive jewelry, drawings, patches, and/or writing relating to drugs, sex, alcohol, Satanism, tobacco, gangs, weapons or illegal activities

  • Combs or rakes (Rakes are considered weapons.)

  • Any open-toe shoes such as things, house shoes, slides, slippers, swim shoes, steel-toes shoes or sandals

  • Hats, caps or hoods inside the building

  • Sun glasses or visors unless prescribed

  • Key chains, pocked chains, or chains of any kind longer than 6 inches.

  • Spiked straps or rings.

Girls

Girls are expected to be clean, neat and appropriately dressed each day. Hairstyles and fashions which cause or may cause a distraction are unacceptable. Appropriate undergarments are expected. In general, girls are expected to dress such that the body is covered from the neck to 2” above the knee with the exception of the arms.

 Tops

  • 6th grade solid navy blue school shirt

  • 7th grade solid grey school shirt

  • 8th grade solid red school shirt

  • All shirts must be purchased at Hogg and have the school logo

  • Hogg spirit shirts are optional on Fridays only

  • Shirts must be TUCKED IN at ALL times

Bottoms

  • All students must wear black uniform or dress pants with belt loops

  • Black shorts and/or skirts that are no more than two inched above the knee and have belt loops are also acceptable

  • NO SAGGING ALLOWED! All bottoms must fit neatly at the inseam and at the waistline

  • Any garment under school shirt must be solid white or the grey Hogg PE shirt

  • Appropriate footwear includes closed-toe shoes such as flats, boots, tennis shoes, and platforms (1” or less in height)

  • Any hairstyle, jewelry, or make-up that does NOT disrupt the educational process

  • Normal hair colors within the natural colors of black, brown, blond, or red are acceptable

  • Belts must be worn daily and must be visible. Belts must be black or brown with no decorations and a plain gold or silver buckle

  • Hogg Middle School team jerseys on game day (team members only)

  • All jackets will be a solid color with no logos or design and must be the color of the grade level uniform shirt

 Girls May Not Wear

  • Over-sized baggy pants

  • Any item identified as gang related by school officials

  • Warm-ups or sweat pants of any kind

  • Body piercing of clips, except for the ears

  • Earrings larger than a quarter

  • Cut-off, torn, or tattered jeans

  • Exaggerated neck chains and medallions

  • Bicycle pants, spandex tops or pants

  • Bandannas

  • Vests or overalls

  • Suggestive jewelry, drawings, patches, and/or writing relating to drugs, sex, alcohol, Satanism, tobacco, gangs, weapons, or illegal activities

  • Hair curlers, combs, or raked (Rakes are considered weapons.)

  • All kinds of open-toe shoes such as thongs, house shoes, slides, slippers, swim shoes, and steel-toed shoes or sandals.

  • Heels that are over 1” in height

  • Hats, headscarves, or gloves inside the building

  • Sun glasses or visors unless prescribed

  • Key chains, pocket chains, or chains of any kind longer than 6 inches, spiked straps or rings.

  • Excessively tight clothing

  • Mini-skirts, mini-skorts and denim jumpers

  • Excessively gaudy make-up

 

Students will not be permitted to write on their skin or clothing. This will be treated as a level three infraction of the student code of conduct, as it is disruptive to the educational process. Students will not be permitted to wear stickers on their face.

  

Text Box: The administration of Hogg Middle School reserves the right to make the final decision regarding the appropriateness of clothing and/or accessories.

 

 

 

 

 

 Free Dress Fridays

 Students who have had perfect attendance for the week on Monday through Thursday, have completed all of their homework, brought their agenda and materials to school each day, and wore their uniform appropriately will be allowed to have a free dress day on Friday. Students who have not met these conditions will be required to wear their full uniform of Friday.
