Treasurer’s Report

Treasurer report was given by Ms. Perez.  We have a balance of $657.63

Old Business

School Directory

The school directory was pulled back because there was concern over publishing addresses and parent work numbers and cell numbers.  The PTO discussed this and determined that parents had been given the opportunity to prevent their information from being published by mail, by a phone message and also by The Privacy Code Form that HISD sent out in early September.  A decision was made to publish the student directory with only student names and phone numbers.  These will be for sale the week of December 3^rd.

New Business

Winter Ball December 14^th

Ms Perez requested assistance from parents to chaperone and serve food at the Winter Ball on December 14^th from 5:00 to 7:30.  Several parents volunteered.

 Nominations for Secretary and Membership Chair for the Board

Ms. Veronica Rodriguez, parent of Sonia Rodriguez, 6^th grade, was nominated and elected to serve as secretary for this year’s board.

 Ms. Janette Ortiz, parent of Selsa Quiroz, 7^th grade, was nominated and elected to serve as Membership Chair for this year’s board.

 Ms. Antonia Williams, mother of Rodrigo Carbajal, 7^th grade, and Ms. Yvonne Yante, mother of Marissa Smith, 6^th grade, were nominated and elected to serve as hostesses for this year’s PTO.

 Thanks to these parents for stepping forward to help Hogg become a wonderful place for all students to learn.

 Speaker

Ms. Medrano shared Gang Issues that are relevant specifically to Hogg Middle School and gave recommendations to parents as to how they can help prevent their spread.  See the attachment for details.

 Future Speakers

Mr. Peter Kurtz, 6^th grade World Cultures teacher, offered to present a session on the customs and traditions of poverty, middle class and the wealthy so that we can better understand how it relates to education.  He will present at the next PTO meeting.

 Future Meetings

The next board meeting is scheduled for January 9^th and the next General Membership meeting is scheduled for January 23^rd..
