HOGG DRESS CODE REVISED FOR 2008-2009
SDMC representatives met and discussed the need to improve the
image of our students. With input from you they proposed the
following changes to the current student dress code. A campaign to
inform both students and parents will be launched immediately, as
these changes have been approved. The SDMC recognizes that in
order for the changes to be successful, parent approval and
support is key. Therefore, an implementation and monitoring system
was also drafted for your information.
Changes in the dress
code:
All uniform shirts will be purchased from the school with the
school logo. August 11 and 12, 2008 pre-order price is $5.50.
After August 12, 2008 price will be $7.50.
* 6th grade shirts will be only
navy blue
* 7th grade shirts will be gray
* Undershirts will be white or gray
* All bottoms will be black
* All pants/shorts will fit neatly at the waist. No sagging
allowed!
* All students, boys and girls, will wear a belt that must be
visible.
* Belts must be plain black or brown with no decoration and a
plain buckle.
* All shirts will be tucked in.
* All jackets will be a solid color with no logos or designs
and must be the color of the grade level uniform shirt.
* Boys will not wear earrings, Girls will only wear them on
their ears and they may not be larger that a quarter.
Things that will not change:
* 8th grade shirts
will still be red
* If a students is out of dress code, (wrong top ro bottom)
they will be asked to call home to request that parents bring the
appropriate uniform during advocacy.
* If the uniform violation can not be corrected, the student
will be referred to the dean for placement in SAC for the
remainder of the day.
* Teachers may assign administrative detention for repeated
violations with documented intervention.
* Parents must be give a 24 hour written and phone
notification of an assigned detention in order that transportation
arrangements can be made.
* Inappropriate jewelry such as nose rings, earrings on boys,
thick chains, and grills should be picked up, labeled with student
name and date and held for parent pick up.
