From The Desk of the Special Education Department Chair

Hamilton’s Special Education Department serves 175 students in various ways. We have a continuum of services from regular with modification too self-contained. At this time we serve students with learning disabilities, speech impairments, mental retardation, other health impairments, orthopedic impairments, emotional disturbance, autism, auditory impairments, traumatic brain injuries, and visual impairments.
We are a member of the ADHD Alliance and are working toward being a more inclusive school. Our inclusion efforts include teaching strategies to teachers, co-teaching and a content Mastery center.

Placement Offered is:
*Regular Education with modifications.
*Regular Education with Content Mastery
*Regular Education Co-Teaching
*Speech Therapy

*Resource Reading, English and Math
*Behavior Adjustment Class
*Visually Impaired Life Skills Class

Those students who need more restrictive environments may be served on another campus.Special Education staff works closely with parents to design a program appropriate for each individual student.
