ABOUT GRADY

 | HISTORY Grady opened in the
1940's and was named for journalist, Henry W. Grady. The first school building was where
Neiman Marcus is currently located. In 1950, the "new" Grady opened on its
present 10-acre site, donated to HISD by Tanglewood developer William Farrington. The
school operated for almost 30 years before closing due to low enrollment. It reopened in
1992, thanks to the efforts of parents in the community who supported a neighborhood
middle school. Community encouragement and support have continued in the academic areas
and made possible campus renovations and a new gymnasium.
|
 | MISSION The faculty and staff at Grady Middle School are committed to academic
