Nonlinguistic Representations
Research & Theory:
- Dual-coding theory - knowledge is stored in two forms: linguistic and imagery.
- Too often we encourage only the linguistic mode in children's learning - leaving them to make up their own images.
- When teachers help students successfully create accurate images student achievement will increase.
Types of Nonlinguistic Representations:
- Graphic Representations - Graphical organizers are the most common way to help students generate nonlinguistic representations. more information
