My name is Carmen E. Parra and I am a Bilingual Social Studies teacher in 6^th grade for the Toucan Cluster.  I was born and raised in Maracaibo, Venezuela. After graduating from college in Business Administration, I moved to Barcelona, Spain where I completed my Master Degree in Finances.  I moved to Houston in 2002 and completed my teacher certification in 2003 and have been working at Burbank since then.   

In my class, we will travel around the World, learning the cultures, religions and histories of different countries. We will discover how the past impacts our lives today; we will explore how the successes and failures of our ancestors created the world we live in; and, together we will use the past to help us make better decisions about the future and to become accountable and take responsibility for our own successes.  Believing that the past is the key to fundamentally change the future, I will constantly challenge students to understand how each person has the ability to succeed, follow his/her dreams, and do his/her part for a better tomorrow.
