My name is Carmen E. Parra and I am
Bilingual Social Studies teacher in 6th grade for the Toucans
Cluster. I am from Venezuela and I have been living in Houston since 2002.
I received a Bachelor Degree on Business Administration in 1997 at the
University of Rafael Belloso Chacin in Maracaibo, Venezuela. After that,
I moved to Barcelona, Spain and earned a Master’s Degree in Finances at
the University of Gerona in 2000. In 2002, I got married and moved to
Houston where my husband was working. After a year living here, I went
back to school to get a certification as a Bilingual Teacher at North
Harris College finishing it in 2004.
In my class, you will
travel around the World, learning different cultures, religions and
history from different countries. You will also discover how the past
impacts our lives today, explore how the successes and failures of our
ancestors created the world we live in, and together we will use the past
to help us make better decisions about the future and accountable to take
responsibility for our own success. Believing that past is the key to
have the ability to fundamentally change the future, I will constantly
challenge students to understand how each person has the ability to be
successful, follow their dreams, and do their part for a better tomorrow.
