I am Princess Granger, the Special
Education Department Coordinator. Burbank has become my second home
and I am honored to be an Eagle! I have seen Burbank blossom into a
school that I am proud to say I belong to. Things were not always
this way.
When
I arrived at Burbank, 22 years ago and fresh out of college, I walked
into a building that was filled with apathy. Ceilings were falling
down, more students were in the halls than classes, and learning was
not the order of the day. Now Burbank students and faculty are
invested in the welfare of our school and there is no place that I
would rather be.
I
graduated from University of Houston in 1986 as a Speech
Therapist. Five years later, I moved into the teaching end of Special
Education. As a professional in the field, I have this advice for
anybody who faces obstacles in life. Drop the excuses, put your
shoulder pads on and just bust right through them, because you too are
a part of life! Nobody, regardless of race, gender, or disability
should suffer the pain of segregation.
